Time for a party?

I was reading this morning that Paris Hilton charges $US150,000 to $US200,000 to appear at a party for 20 minutes.

While I would probably rather pay her to stay away from any of my parties, I think she may be onto something. I’ve been looking for ways to bring in a little extra money and this could be it.

I’m not really a party person. I tend to freeze up a little in social situations. In fact walking into a crowded room can be rather traumatising for me and by crowd I’m talking anything above about 5 or 6 people.

However, I’d be prepared to face my demons and attend a few parties if the price was right. If you’re looking to have some kind of celebration let me know. I’m happy to turn up for half an hour for just a couple of hundred bucks as long as my food and drinks are free. Compared to Paris Hilton’s charges, I’m an absolute bargain.

I download a 20 minute video of Paris Hilton and I can quite definitely say she’s worth the money. ;)

I’m with you on this one, Rodney. I about have a panic attack just thinking about social situations, but I could be talked into appearing normal if the price was right :)

    David, eeewww.

I could probably set up a lucrative business of being paid to stay away from parties. Paris Hilton has always just seemed like the spoilt rich kid type to me, so I can’t say this surprises me a great deal. Given that I could find plenty of that type here on the Gold Coast anytime I wanted, I might just pass on her offer.

Now Sarah Blasko might be a different story…

    Hi Rodney,
I might not be able to afford as i’m a student, but i’m sure my youth group wouldn’t mind having you as a guest speaker for free, well soft drinks would be free.
Your phobea explains your radio hosting alot better.

    Matt

So this got me thinking, how did the crowds in India affect you?

Amanda, it was pretty freaky at times to be surrounded by people all the time, but I coped fairly well. On a trip like that, as long as I can have a little space and a little time out now and then, I’m OK.

If I have a purpose in walking into a busy room I seem to be OK. As part of my previous job I would turn up alone at a different church just about every week. I was fine to do that. I could go there, chat to people, preach and feel reasonably comfortable. I guess in that situation I’m there to do something; I have a defined role to fulfil. In a social setting I’m not always as comfortable.

Hey Matt – I’d be happy to be a guest speaker at your youth group. Get in touch with me at Sonshine FM and we can arrange something.
