Is it morning already?

We had a bit of a late one last night …. but it was well and truly worth it.

We went to Fremantle to see one of the final concerts for the Sensitive New Age Cowpersons. Their final Western Australian show will be this Saturday afternoon.

If you haven’t heard of themn before, they’re a group of four guys who play everything ‘bluegrass style’, including songs by Abba, U2, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones and even AC/DC as well as a few originals.

They always provide a very funny show and towards the end of the night I heard someone behind me telling their friend that their face was aching from laughing.

As well as the humour they’re incredibly good musicians. All four of them play so well but seeing ‘Doc Adams’ play the mandolin, and watching ‘Kid Simpson’ play better banjo than anyone else in the country, were real highlights. How those guys can move their fingers that fast and hit all the right notes astounds me every time.

Among those in the crowd checking out the SNACS one last time was well respected singer/songwriter John Butler.

James usually falls asleep once it gets to his bedtime but Pauline got him to prepare by having an afternoon sleep. He made it through the entire show which is not a bad effort considering it finished around 11 o’clock. After dropping Pauline’s mum home and heading across the city back home it was rather late when our heads touched our pillows.

Sad to think that after 14 years the guys are about to break up. I’m just glad we’ve been able to enjoy their show a few times over the years.
