2007 Bloggies

The Bloggies are back.

As the website says, “The Weblog Awards are a non-profit project created in 2001 to award the best blogs. All the Bloggie winners are chosen by the public.”

There are many categories, including the coveted Weblog of the Year Award, and anyone can nominate the blogs they feel most deserving of an award. Nominations close on Wednesday so you’ll need to be quick.

I’ll go out on a limb here and predict that I won’t win or even be nominated. I can say that fairly confidently because I know that my blog is fairly ‘random’ in content and doesn’t fit well with the kind of blogs that win such awards.

That’s really not a problem for me. I enjoy what I do and thankfully there’s a small but ever so discerning group of readers that enjoy dropping in to see what I have to say. That’s reward enough.

Having said that, I read a bunch of blogs that would fit into many of the categories. I’m planning to spend a bit of time thinking which ones I can nominate. I think that good writing deserves to be recognised and so I’ll do my bit in trying to highlight the extremely talented bloggers that I regularly read. Believe it or not, I do keep up to date with all the blogs in the Blog List in my side bar. Thank goodness for Bloglines. If you’re looking for some good blogs you might like to start there.

If there are some exceptional blogs that you think are worthy of highlighting, why not nominate them today? If you’re one of the bloggers that gets nominated, make sure you let me know so that I can vote for you when the time comes.
