  • Rodney, I read the article and I don’t really get what you see is the “perceived rise in atheism”. I saw it as an accolade for all the good religion does, but not really addressing the athesist issue.

  • There seems to be a rise in the amount of time the media is giving to atheism in the western world. That might be because there is a rise in atheism or it could be that those who are atheists are getting more media attention.

    Many of those who believe that God does not exist base a lot of their reasoning on the perceived evil perpetrated in the name of religion. Their understanding is that if religion was removed from society, we’d all be better off.

    As Bob says, “Richard Dawkins, et al, have built a straw man out of the debris left when religion “pure and undiluted” expels the toxins contained in bad religion, itself an expression of bad culture.”

    Bob directs his post to those who are promoting atheism under false pretenses.
