Let’s Get Missional

Imagine a group of Christians caring more for what happens outside the four walls of their church building than what happens inside.

Imagine a group of believers committed to being as passionate about social justice as the Bible calls them to be.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find a community of Jesus followers that are so passionate about their faith that it becomes a natural part of their everyday life.

My regular Wednesday morning guest on 98.5 Sonshine FM is Ross Clifford who is the Principal of Morling College in New South Wales and current President of the Baptist Union of Australia. Each week we chat about a range of issues relating to spirituality and belief.

Yesterday we talked about the missional church. We discussed the hallmarks of a church that reaches beyond its own membership to bring positive change to the local community and beyond.

Ross talked about a number of indicators from Michael Frost and Alan Hirsch’s excellent book, The Shaping of Things to Come.

I threw in the example of Geoff and his church taking part in Clean Up Australia Day last Sunday.
