From Little Things …

We had a wonderful time last Sunday afternoon.

Australia’s national broadcaster, the ABC, was holding an open day at their East Perth studios to celebrate their 75th anniversary.

As part of the celebrations they held an outdoor concert. I guess one thing that they proved is that they don’t have control over the weather. It rained all afternoon.

We stood in the rain watching a couple of hours of magnificent entertainment including performances by Bob Evans, Aunty Jack’s Grahame Bond and Rory O’Donoghue, The Flairz, Andrew Hansen from The Chasers and a fantastic set by Mental as Anything.

One of the standout performances on the afternoon was that of Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody. Both performers sang a song on their own before combining to sing a couple of songs together including the wonderful From Little Things Big Things Grow. The song tells the inspiring story of the Gurindji Strike of August 1966. Kev was wearing a great shirt saying Make Indigenous Poverty History.

Pauline and James had umbrellas. Emily and I just stood there as the rain slowly seeped through our jackets and through our clothes. We’ve been praying for rain so I guess we might as well enjoy it.
