Dona Nobis Pacem

RodneyPeace.JPGToday, June the 4th 2008, bloggers across the globe are blogging for peace.

BlogBlast For Peace is an initiative of Mimi of Mimi Writes.

Dona Nobis Pacem is Latin for “Grant Us Peace”. The Peace Globe project began in 2006 with a simple post at Mimi’s blog ignited a flame in the blogosphere.

It amazingly traveled from blog to blog across the globe until it reached 35 countries. BlogBlast for Peace is now a semi-annual blog event which continues to grow.

The simplicity of three Latin words on a globe and bloggers writing amazing articles on what peace means to them.

All those participating today will title their posts “Dona Nobis Pacem” so have a look around, search the blogosphere and see what others are saying. Then consider what you think peace is about. Surely it’s more than just an absence of war. Either post your thoughts at your own blog or leave your ideas on peace in the comments section of this blog.

  • Rodney,

What kind of “peace”? Peace that is only temporary, or everlasting?

The only peace that is everlasting is when the Lord Jesus Christ is sitting on the Throne.

Man can not bring peace on his own, nor any utopias, no matter how hard he tries.

  • Ron, I agree. Everlasting peace is the ultimate goal but as far as it depends on us we should be seeking peace here on earth as well as in eternity.

If that means that we need to make an increased effort to introduce more people to the Prince of Peace then that is a noble aim indeed.

Man can’t bring about peace on his own but by allowing God to work through us we can be part of the solution.

  • That is a good idea, to take a moment, consider what we have – being quite safe, living in peace and freedom of body and soul. I am thankful for that and don´t take it for granted, either.
I read many books about those who suffer, let it be children who have to make a living as soldiers or women who have to wear the Chador and hide their thoughts and many more people fighting and enduring in bad conditions.

It made me sad that google-results out of Germany go in a completedly different direction. http://www.dona-nobis-pacem.de/ – a forum on war games, “World of WarCraft” – humiliating.
Heaps of links to download the “lyrics” as a ringtone for you mobile phone.

Around the globe a message is carried and Germany gives ringtones and war-games… If anyone can tell me it´s different, please let me know.
