Sumo Omni

omnisumo.jpgTo tell the truth I had never been much of a fan of bean bags. I considered them to be relics of the 70s which were trumpeted as being not only groovy, but extremely comfortable. I found them to be neither.

With that in mind, I wish that the good folk at Sumo had chosen not to call their products ‘bean bag chairs’. Yes, they are chairs that you fill with beans, but I’d hate you to think that they’re just a new version of an old idea … they’re so much more.

I was sent an Omni chair to review and when it came to colour I chose the ‘incredibly red’ one. When it arrived I opened it, then opened it again and then I opened it some more. It really is a big chair. It was so much more than I was expecting and that is probably the best way to explain the Omni. It was more that I expected in size, more than I expected in quality, more than I expected in comfort and more than I expected as a good looking piece of furniture.

The Omni can be wrangled in so many ways to created the perfect chair and I do mean wrangled. (They say you can create 10 different positions with it.) I’m not a small guy so I was always hesitant when sitting on an old style bean bag. I was never sure whether the stitching would hold out or if maybe I’d end up drowning in a sea of small white balls, trying to gather them up to force them back in to a hole which was by now rapidly expanding. No such worries with Sumo’s Omni. It’s tough … very tough. I’m not likely to try it but I reckon I could dive on the Omni from a great height with complete confidence in it’s toughness and durability.

One of my other concerns with older bean bags is that most are made of fabric that would happily harbour all kinds of nasty spills and stains. How are you going to wash something like that? Empty the beans, wash the bag and then refill? No thanks. The Omni sorts that problem right away. It’s made with PVC coated nylon so it’s so very easy to clean. Just wipe it clean. You can sit on your clean Omni in complete confidence.

Our philosophy is simple. We believe in your comfort. Sumo bean bags are built with high quality rip-proof material that’s very durable and easy to clean. Our bean bag chairs are designed for an urban lifestyle and provide a stylish alternative to boring furniture. All of our bean bags come in a range of colors, styles and sizes – perfect for any room. When it comes to interior design, the versatility of bean bag chairs makes them an indispensable element as the main feature in living rooms of modern homes. In addition to providing great eye candy, bean bag chairs are great for relaxation too. The benefits associated with the use of bean bag chairs are countless.

Whether you’re looking for a chair for watching TV, reading or …. well you know why you need a comfortable bean bag chair …. check out Sumo and park yourself on a comfortable, fashionable, durable chair that you’ll be very proud to own. Oh yeah, I should also mention that when I saw the price I was quite amazed. You’ll be very pleasantly surprised.

Disclaimer: Sumo sent me a free Omni Bean Bag Chair for review but the opinions I’ve expressed are for real. I truly love my Omni.

Want to buy some property?

I just got an email from a real estate company in Hong Kong. They specialise in exclusive and very expensive apartments in Hong Kong.

Apparently they have clients who would be interested in living in the exclusive area of Hong Kong where I recently purchased an apartment. They were wondering if I’d like to sell.

I shot back an email to let them know they’ve found the wrong Rodney Olsen. I don’t own any property in Hong Kong and I haven’t even had the pleasure of visiting.

Now I’m wondering if I should have just let them sell the apartment for me and forwarded the proceeds to my account.

Just Thinking

How will you use the 24 hours you’ve been given today?

Would you use those hours differently if today was the last day of your life?

Can you be absolutely certain that today isn’t the last day of your life?

What difference will those questions make to the way you live today?

Perth Royal Show 2009

It all starts again this Saturday.

The Perth Royal Show begins at the Claremont Showgrounds from this Saturday the 26th of September until Saturday the 3rd of October.

The Perth Royal Show is Perth’s biggest community event attracting 400 000 visitors from the city and the country every year. It has a history spanning over 170 years and serves to showcase WA agriculture, small business and entertainment.

An interesting element of this year’s show is that it’ll be smoke free. Smokers will have one area within the showgrounds where they can light up while the rest of the event will be free of second hand cigarette smoke. I think it’s a great move forward.

98.5 Sonshine FM will broadcast live from the show each day.

I’m really looking forward to presenting my morning programme from the show each day of next week as well as hosting this Saturday morning.

I’ll have a range of interesting guests and will probably get involved in some weird situations. I may even end up broadcasting from the bumper cars, from the top of the ferris wheel or some other sideshow ride.

If you’re thinking of heading to the show this year, make sure you drop in to our broadcast centre and say hello. We’ve changed locations from previous years. We’ll be overlooking the main arena on the opposite side to the grandstand.

Broadcasting from the show instead of our Como studios will almost double the distance I’ll have to cycle which will be great training for our cancer ride coming up next month.
