10 Things You Probably Haven’t Done

ten

Let’s get the conversation going. I want to know about some of the things you’ve experienced that most others haven’t. What are the unique moments of your life?

I thought I’d try to spark things by listing a few things I’ve done that you probably haven’t.

While you may find one or two things on the list that you’ve done I sincerely doubt that you’ve done all ten. 🙂

I’m hoping that you’ll come up with a few of your own in the comments section of this post or that you’ll write a similar post on your own blog or Facebook page and link back here. If you’ve done any of the things on my list let me know.

I’ll just list the ten things and leave it to you. If you have questions about any of the items in the list, feel free to ask.

Ten things I’ve done you probably haven’t

1. Cycled across Australia five times.

2. Escaped a country when rioting and looting in the capital became widespread. (Haiti)

3. Hand fed a rhinoceros.

4. Stood on stage with Mikhail Gorbachev.

5. Cycled from Agra (home of the Taj Mahal) to Delhi in India.

6. Met General ‘Stormin’ Norman Schwarzkopf.

7. Interviewed 2011 Tour de France winner, Cadel Evans.

8. Preached at Cathedral Church of the Redemption in New Delhi, India.

9. Been mentioned at least twice in Australia’s Federal Parliament.

10. Cycled up and down an aisle at K-Mart in Miami, Florida.

So there you are. Now it’s over to you.

    4. Dinkied on the back of a bike through a little village in Kobe, Japan

    5. Climbed Mt Fuji (well, part of it)

    6. Flew on a “Suckling Air” 12 seater prop plane from Southampton to Amsterdam

    7. Visited William Wordsworth’s grave in The Lakes District

    8. Toured through Anne Frank’s house in Amsterdam

    9. Walked the Brooklyn Bridge

    10. Lived with a Japanese family for two weeks in a traditional wooden house with rice paper walls

  • Impressive list. I can’t claim to have done any of those things.

I did see U2 at the Entertainment Centre in 1984 (with Linda) but didn’t meet them.

  • 1. ate dung soup (and kept it down)
    2. Had a conversation with (chief? ) extortionist of the Philippine new people’s army (rebel army)
    3. had a ransom demanded for me
    4. Delivered my kids
    5. Was offered a prostitute for the night , by my wife’s pimp-friend , with my wife sitting next to me.

  • 1. Given birth to 4 babies (not all at once) and had 1 miscarriage.
    2. Stayed at the London Hilton for 1 night, organised by my Dad’s cousin who was staying there. We’d seen his mum off at the airport to fly to Hong Kong where he lived but he couldn’t get a flight home for a couple of days so we went sightseeing for the rest of that day and the next.
    3. Flew home from Sydney late Dec 1974 with people who had been flown out of Darwin after Cyclone Tracy.
    4. Sat next to Bob Tarlau who was the US correspondent for 6PR back in the late ’70’s, on a plane coming back from over east after being bridesmaid for my cousin. Next day on the radio he used my line about how it would be good if it rained at night and he gave no credit so wasn’t impressed!
    5. Was a prefect in Grade 7 at Armadale Primary School and received the Citizenship award.
    6. Honeymooned in England and went back for our 30th anniversary.
    7. We were upgraded to First Class on our return on our honeymoon then downgraded in Singapore (bit of a relief actually).
Not sure I can think of any others.
