Bob is a palindrome

Date September 9, 2008

I just love this Weird Al song.
It’s simply titled Bob and it comes from Al’s 2003 album, Poodle Hat.
The video is styled in the fashion of Bob Dylan’s Subterranean Homesick Blues yet every line of the song is a palindrome, which essentially means that it’s the same forwards or backwards. it really shows that Weird [...]

I’m sorry … I’ll read that again

Date August 19, 2008

I saw a headline from an online news service yesterday saying “Man in coma after bowser attack”.
When I first read it I thought it said “browser attack”.
I immediately blamed IE. Firefox wouldn’t do stuff like that

What’s your greatest sporting moment?

Date August 8, 2008

The opening ceremony is in full swing and Olympic Games for 2008 are finally underway.
In the coming days the best of the best will be representing their countries and competing for gold.
I must admit that I’ve never really been a competitive sports person. I’ve won a sprint or two against friends during our casual Saturday [...]

There is only one Jeep

Date July 17, 2008

I had a close call on the way to work this morning.
I was cycling up to a set of red lights and noticed a Jeep with a sticker on the back saying “There is only one Jeep”.
Well, I’ve seen lots of Jeeps so I knew right away that this vehicle was clearly delusional. I went [...]

Free Juice

Date June 27, 2008

Apart from the obvious safety benefits, there are some real advantages with the new international travel regulations regarding taking liquids onto a flight.
We were sitting in the coffee shop at the International Airport in the early hours of this morning waiting for boarding time for the flight our son James was taking.
A lady we’d never [...]

Waking up startled

Date June 18, 2008

I had a slightly less frightening start to the day this morning.
Quite some years ago Pauline bought me a very nice bedside clock radio. It’s served me well ever since.
It has a button that I can press to change the clock to daylight saving time without all the hassle of changing the time manually. I [...]
