For a good time …

I hate the idea of grafitti. I hate the fact that some people feel it is their right to scribble on other people’s property. So called ‘tagging’ makes me especially annoyed.

However, long ago, before tagging was ever conceived, some grafitti was made up of ‘real words’ with some of it, while still being destructive vandalism, being rather witty. Some of this kind of grafitti could be found, and still is, on the back of doors in public toilets. I saw one such entry today which seems to me to be an apt resonse to the usual dozens of lewd ‘call me for a ****’ type comments found there. It simply said: “For a good time call 1800 – geta – life“.

  • My favourite bit of graffiti was in the gents of the Sussex University library:
“Hardy, do you think these Foster Grants make me look a little like… Dr Goebbels?”

Still makes me smile when I think about it 20 years later

  • Hey Rodney, I’m with you, I think graffiti is plain old vandalism (wrecking something), the funniest graffiti I’ve seen was underneath a peeling bit of board – if you pulled the board away underneath was written “Trust you to look”. Funny.
