Spiderman Defends Good Curries Everywhere

I’ve never been a big fan of Spiderman but this is a movie I’d love to see.

The Times of India reports that Bollywood is set to make an Indian version of the Marvel Comics movie.

The net result is that Peter Parker of Queens, the hero under the classic Spiderman mask, will be replaced by a young, Indian boy named Pavitr Prabhakar, a Mumbaikar.

As Spiderman, Pavitr leaps around rickshaws and scooters in Indian streets, while swinging from monuments such as the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal.

“Spiderman India interweaves the local customs, culture and mystery of modern India, with an eye to making Spiderman’s mythology more relevant to this particular audience,” Marvel and its alliance partner Gotham Entertainment Group announced this week.

Mumbai’s first web-swinging Super Hero will be joined by a reinvented villain. The Green Goblin will appears as a Rakshasa, the Indian mythological demon.

I hope that the movie will be available here in Australia.

  • I’d like to see a version of Spiderman adapted for Australian audiences. I just can’t relate to this red-suited guy swinging from tall building to tall building. The Aussie Spiderman would crawl between football fields and barstools and spend most of his time hiding under toilet seats.
