The Smallest Things

Isn’t it amazing what a huge effect something so very tiny can have? I’m usually pretty good at removing dirt from my eye – not that I need to all that often – but it doesn’t normally bother me for long.

Last night I had a grain of dirt in my left eye. I tried everything to get it out but that grain wasn’t going anywhere. I knew I had to be careful because even a tiny speck can do a lot of damage – and it can feel like it’s still there after it’s gone if it scratches your eye ball.

I couldn’t sleep – so I got up and drenched my eye with eye drops. It was still there. I just knew that if I could get off to sleep it would probably move during the night. I must have finally dozed off.

It worked. Even though it’s still a little sore – this morning I woke up singing a new song.

I can see clearly now the grain has gone.

  • Imagine what it must be like for Fred Nile…..trying to get off to sleep with a 4X2 in his eye.

(Should have punched him out when I had the chance when he visited Sonshine….ahhh..the great regrets of life….)

  • Rodney,

You are right – its always the really small things small things in life that seem to be the most annoying.

Its always a relief when they are gone.

  • You know that old thing about ‘all things working together for good’? Well, if the outcome of your suffering is that apalling pun, maybe we’ve found an exception to the rule.

Glad things are looking up for you.

  • The times I’ve had long term eye irritants I end up rubbing it so much that my eye is blurry even after the grit is long gone.
