Can you dig it?

This article claims that an archaeologist may have found John the Baptist’s cave.

A CAVE believed to be have been used for religious rituals by John the Baptist has been discovered in hills near Jerusalem, a British archaeologist claims.

Shimon Gibson has been digging in the Holy Land for nearly 30 years. He said the cave has a ritual baptism pool, rock carvings and pottery.

It’s an interesting find. If it’s for real it may help us to understand a little more of the era.

Unfortunately though, if their predictions are right that “Pilgrims will be flocking to the cave” it may simply be something else to take the focus off the eternal God and turn it onto something interesting yet temporary.

  • Not meaning to be cynical – but how long do you think that it will be before Efpos is installed at the entrance of the cave?

  • People seem to like the outward stuff -what they can see. We turn altars into idols and prefer tradition to reality. It’s all about finding alternatives to God (forbidden fruit, golden calf, a more handsome messiah…)
