The Cheque's in the Mail

Apparently a Christmas card posted in the UK in 1999 has finally turned up at the right address – just 5 kilometres away.

I was speaking this morning to a lovely lady who was listening to Sonshine FM when the story was reported. She rang to tell me her own story of misdirected mail. She’s in Mt Pleasant and she says it took two months for a letter she sent to arrive in West Leederville. (For those ‘non-locals’ – they are two suburbs of Perth.)

She also recently tried sending mail to the nearby suburb of Success. That letter only took 8 days to arrive – but it went via Queensland – many thousands of kilometres away. It took 3 days to get to Queensland and then made its way back west.

I’m sure it’s only a very small minority of items that go astray but it has at least given me hope. Maybe that really large cheque I’ve been waiting for all these years is just stuck in the system somewhere.
