Getting Old

I woke up bright and happy yesterday and went about my business. Everything was fine until my back suddenly decided that it didn’t like me.

Every so often I have a couple of muscles seize up for no apparent reason. It makes it hard to walk, stand, sit, breathe etc. (Well, almost impossible actually.) There was plenty I needed to do so I staggered around until things eased up a little. There I was, holding furniture and walls to get around the house. Eventually I ventured off to church. I had things to do and being a silly male I decided I would still go and do.

Thankfully the pain eased off during the day and I slept well last night after a back massage from Pauline. (That Goanna Heat Rub is hot stuff.)

This morning things are a little better. I’m still walking crooked but the amazing thing I always find when I have these episodes is that the most comfortable place to be is on my bike. I can pedal all I like without too much more than an occasional twinge. It probably has something to do with the way it stretches my back muscles but I like to think it’s because cycling is always good for you.
