Have you ever felt as if a shop doesn’t want your business?
It never ceases to amaze me at how many shops make you feel unwelcome towards the end of the day.
If a shop closes at 5:30 you’ll find the shop assistants busily putting things away and starting to shut things down not too long after 5. Pauline recently heard a shop owner on the phone to a customer telling them – “Oh yes, we shut at 5:30 – but if it’s not busy we try to get away at quarter past five”. So what happens to someone who rushes to get there right on 5:20 to grab something they need? Tough luck. We don’t want you business.
I know that these people want to get home – but if you want to leave at 5:15 – change your business hours and close at 5 – then you can tidy up and leave by quarter past. At least we’d all know what’s going on.
I can assure you that when it happens to me it makes me less likely to shop there again at any time of the day.
