What's the Purpose?

An interesting morning at church with the simulcast to commence the 40 Days of Purpose.

Strangely enough, the 40 days doesn’t start today but in a few weeks. The simulcast was simply the gee ’em up and get ’em ready kind of thing.

I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed the presentation and how much I agreed with Rick Warren. Life’s experience has taught me to be cautious about jumping on bandwagons but this programme looks great and I’m looking forward to seeing the whole thing through.

As with any popular programme, I know that 40 Days of Purpose has its critics, however I also know that God has given us all a brain and we can use that brain to sort out the good stuff from the bad. On first look, I’m convinced that there’s a lot of good.

  • I was totally surprised at how good Rick Warren’s stuff is. I usually try to stay away from anything that anybody else likes, but I gave in and was pleasantly suprised!

  • I read the book a while back before it got so popular and before we did the 40-days study at our church. So, I didn’t have any preconceived ideas about it. I thought the book was basic, but it had quite a few gems that were very worthwhile.

  • Our church started 40 days of purpose yesterday. I’m looking forward to it. I read the book awhile back but have not been through it formally, so we will see what comes out of it.
