Just because you have the technology …

… doesn’t mean you have to use it.

As I was out and about on the weekend I wandered into a Subway store. There was one guy eating in the ‘restaurant’ at the time and he was on the phone to a young lady, who I can only assume was his girlfriend.

Instead of having a discreet conversation he was holding the phone out in front of his face. They obviously had phones that could transmit their pictures as well as their voices. His lady’s voice was booming out across the store on loudspeaker letting us all hear the full conversation.

I made a point of not listening in but I could still hear her constant giggling and snatches of the conversation. It was all a bit tragic.

I’m glad that the two of them have found each other and that they have endless supplies of money so that they can natter on about nothing while paying a premium price for the picture phone thing, but surely they didn’t need to share the entire relationship with the rest of the world.
