Maestro

We all trooped off to Guildford Grammar School’s performing arts centre on Friday night to hear a piano concert.

There were dozens of performers but we were really only there to see one. Our girl, Emily.

Emily has only been learning piano for less than half a year but she handled the performance like an expert. Obviously she wasn’t given difficult pieces to play but she was confident and played so very well.

She performed one piece on her own and one as a duet with her teacher.

The interesting thing was that I enjoyed hearing all the other kids playing too. Some were very accomplished and others just plodded along.

I couldn’t help but admire them. After all, as basic as some of their skills may be, they still played better than I can.
