Pyjamas

It’s something I’ve never understood.

Why would you drive anywhere in your PJs?

I was at the lights today at a busy intersection and noticed the woman in the car next to me was wearing her dressing gown and pyjamas. Her passenger was dressed so I can only imagine she was dropping her passenger somewhere before returning home.

I’m not usually a pessimist but I do wonder what would happen if she had an accident or the car broke down. I certainly wouldn’t want to be parading around a busy street in my nightwear. I get self-concious enough putting our bins out on a Thursday morning wearing PJs. I couldn’t imagine what would make me sit behind the wheel of a car in busy traffic dressed in pyjamas. How long does it take to throw on some tracky pants and an old T-Shirt?

In the case of the woman that I spotted this morning, I can only hope that her car got her home safely and she’s now inside where pyjamas belong.

  • I once drove to a pyjama party in my PJs. It was only a 15 minute drive, but I’ve never been so paranoid that I would be pulled over by the cops…”no, really, I’m going to a pyjama party, I don’t usually drive around like this”…

  • I think pjs should be more socially acceptable. They are comfortable and sometimes quite festive! Maybe I’ll start a political action committee and lobby for pajama acceptance.

  • There shouldn’t be any problem, as long as those pyjamas are not boxer shorts!!!! (sorry everyone else, this is a kind of in joke!)

  • Rodney, I’m with you on this one. However, I recently read an article about the fact that some college girls are going to class in the same sweats and t-shirts they slept in. Just rolling out of bed and going to class. Makes you wonder if they even bother to brush their teeth? :0

Also, have you ever seen the Mr. Bean episode in which he’s late for work and he totally gets dressed while driving in his car? It’s hilarious!
