A change in career

I see that Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is not so keen on continuing life as a film star. She says that she would love to be a chef.

She has made the revelation in a recent interview where she complained about the pressures of celebrity.

“I understand that if you set out to be a celebrity, then you asked for it, but all I wanted to be was an actor. I didn’t know that it was going to turn into this kind of thing. If I had, then I would have majorly reassessed my decision because I don’t think it’s good for a family or relationships.”

Gwyneth, don’t do it. I’ve been a chef. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

The only thing I’m really qualified to do in life is cook. I did a four year apprenticeship after leaving school. I have a couple of certificates to say that I’m a qualified ‘Tradesman Cook’.

I do a lot of the cooking at home but I would never want to take it on as a job again. I very quickly got tired of my hands smelling of onions all the time, of working wierd hours and with having friends being too scared to serve me something they’d cooked because I was a supposed expert.

Of course, if Gwyneth really wants to cook, I’d let her take over the food preparation duties at our place ….. for a small slice of her fortunes.

  • Hi Rodney,

Got to your BLOG site from the India one that Pammy sent me a link to. I liked this story of your background in cooking – great to read about others’ journeys.

I also loved your 3 1/2 India video at the Bible Society/B4B dinner last Sat night. Great to get such a diverse picture of that part of the world and the mission in such a short time.

    God bless,
    Steve
