A hell of a long way to ride a bike

Do you enjoy catching up with old friends?

We headed along to a reunion on Saturday night to mark the 20th anniversary of Bike for Bibles.

I’ve been taking part for such a long time now, so it was good to meet up with some of those that I’ve cycled alongside.

I imagine I’ve probably pushed the pedals for over 30 000 kilometres under the Bike for Bibles banner. I’ve cycled across Australia 5 times, ridden through the Rockies in Canada and ridden several hundred kilometres in India for Bike for Bibles. As well as that I’ve taken part in lots and lots of smaller Bike for Bibles rides too. If I then added all the training for those events I would come up with a fairly considerable number.

My next big project is a return trip to India in February. Thankfully, I get to take a handful of good friends who were part of last year’s Perth to Hobart ride as well.

I only hope I’m still riding when Bike for Bibles clocks up its next 20 years. By then I’ll be …. looking forward to retirement.

(Once I’m retired I might be able to spend a bit more time on my bike.)
