… who would like to see someone cause the Little Drummer Boy a serious injury?
I love the version by Bing Crosby and David Bowie but lately it seems that everyone is recording this song and thrusting it upon us at Christmas time.
It’s not so much that it’s adding something to the Christmas story that didn’t really happen, it’s more that as a song it’s so damn irritating.
Why can’t the Little Drummer Boy go parrum-pa-pum-pum somewhere else?

Personally, I think it’s the video for Little Drummer Boy with Bowie and Crosby that takes the cake. First there’s that awkward banter in the beginning. Then there’s the subtle “outsinging” thing it sounds like they are doing as they attempt to sing in harmony. It’s good stuff.
Merry Christmas Rodney, to you and your family 🙂
(BTW I love the Little Drummer Boy…my favourite was the version by Christina Anu (?) )
You’re right Janet. I love that banter, designed to try and sound natural, and the ‘lovely’ clothes they’re wearing. 🙂
Bowie put in a reasonable performance in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence but the video for Drummer Boy would have you believing he had no acting talent at all.
For his own safety, I wouldn’t want the Drummer boy near my house at Christmas…..
Merry Christmas to you, Pauline and the children 🙂 Have a great day.
i think the worst version i had ever heard was last night on the carols by Kate Cebrano. No music, just people humming in the background, and some guy kept shouting our these reggae sounding phrases i couldn’t understand…
but otherwise i like it….charlotte church does a good one…
