Back on the road

I had a slight mishap on my bike on Saturday morning.

My chain has been giving up for quite a while. It’s done thousands of kilometres and has been due for replacement for about a month or so.

After a truly wonderful ride with the usual suspects the chain skipped the wrong way and one of the links got twisted in a way that links aren’t meant to be twisted. After coffee on the Oxford Street Cafe strip, I slipped across the road to Riders Choice where they were kind enough to use a couple of sets of pliers to help the chain point in the right direction. The quick fix got me home.

I took the bike into Balmoral Cycles yesterday to have the chain and cluster replaced. The bike’s now riding a lot nicer. Mind you, I was out for sprint training this morning before heading to work and noticed that the new bits and pieces still haven’t fixed everything. It seems that I still need to pedal.
