Withdrawals

I’m suffering withdrawal symptoms. What can I do?

It was going to be too much of a rush to go out for my usual 60km morning ride before taking the family to the movies this Saturday so I stayed home. No problem …. or so I thought.

As I was sitting here a few moments ago I had this incredible urge to get up and go for a ride. I feel the need to go for a long ride. It’s already about 35 degrees outside (35 Celsius = 95 Fahrenheit) and it’s forecast to get to 37 degrees (100 Fahrenheit) but I don’t care. My body is screaming out for the chance to make my legs hurt and my lungs gasp for air.

Maybe I feel the need for it so much because I know I can’t have it. Perhaps I should just settle for that other great cyclists’ passtime. A nice hot mug of coffee.

  • It’s ok Rodney, some of us understand what you are going through. And you probably wont be going out next Saturday either!
Actually when I first saw your post on withdrawal symptoms, I thought you were talking about the state of your bank account after Christmas shopping!

  • I don’t even want to think about my bank account!

You’re right though. I won’t be out with the bunch this coming Saturday and I can’t imagine anyone showing on New Year’s Day either. That’ll make it three weeks.

I’ll just have to get a good night’s sleep tonight and get up at 5:00am tomorrow to join the bunch for some sprint training.
