Did you have a big start to the New Year or were you asleep when 2005 made its grand entrance?
We went to the Perth Zoo for Happy Zoo Year, a family concert with a New Year countdown at 9:00pm. I guess it was 2005 on the east coast of Australia by that stage.
The concert finished at 9:30 so we headed off toward home. On the way we decided to drop in at a friend’s house where we had been invited to see in the new year.
We all sat around falling asleep and coming to the realisation that we must be getting old. Finally midnight came, we wished each other a happy new year, then wandered outside to see some of the fireworks going off here and there.
On our way home we saw a big fireworks display not far from us so we drove closer and parked on the side of the road to get a good view. Then we made it home and into bed.
It was a wonderful night but I think that maybe 2006 can arrive without us being awake to usher it in.

My wife slept on the lounge & gave me permission to wake her for the countdown & then send her to bed. I am older than her but must have had good coffee. Blog on – great site!
Age (up to a point) shouldn’t enter into it, partying is parting after all. My partner and I realised that we’d been having too many quiet times over the last year or two and booked into a hotel for New Year’s Eve. It was great! And we’re either side of the half century…
For the past few New Years, we’ve stayed in and had quiet ones.I don’t like being out on the road on that night and I can’t get sitters for the kids (My mum STILL goes out on NYE!!). Anyway, we stayed in this year, but my hubby was away. I think when you stay in for a few years, you need to go out again to remember how much you don’t like going out!!!
Next year I might do a little party at my place!!
To be honest, my new years generally aren’t that exciting. But I think its mainly me… when people try to hug and kiss me I run away š
