Here at last

I heard noises coming from the family room very early this morning. There was one very excited young boy keeping himself amused and keeping me awake.

It’s the first day of Year One for James today. He has been looking forward to starting school for the last couple of months. Kindy and Pre-Primary just don’t count compared to being a Year One. He’s finally made it to real school. He’ll get his own desk and he’ll start learning all kinds of new things.

He’s promised that he’s going to tell me all about it when I get home from work this afternoon. Knowing how well he can tell a story it may take him some time to tell me about the whole day in intricate detail.

I reckon there’s something pretty special about the nervous excitement that comes from doing something completely new and taking on a brand new challenge.

  • I hope you have put aside plenty of time this afternoon to listen to the story of James’ day? It sounds like he will have lots to tell.
