Old Friends

Don’t know about you but I love catching up with old friends.

I spent about an hour with a guy named Andrew Phillips yesterday afternoon. I worked with Andrew when he was an announcer at Sonshine FM many years ago but he’s been working in radio management in England for many years now.

Andrew’s in the middle of a flying visit to Perth, catching up with friends, family and business contacts. As well as working in radio, he was also a pastor and so just over 12 years ago, he performed the wedding ceremony when I married Pauline.

We didn’t get the chance to do much more than scratch the surface as far as catching up on the last decade or so. There’s so much to talk about and I wish we’d had a couple of days rather than an hour to sit and chat. Although, I must say that I find it incredible that even when I haven’t seen someone for a long time and I don’t know a lot of what has gone on since we last met, there’s still an almost instant connection between good friends that can take you right back to where you left off.

  • old friends are a blessing … to be able to start a conversation about the nitty gritty of ones life, and to feel comfortable in doing that … isn’t it great?

your post re your little guy being excited about school made me smile … brought back memories of my sisters …
