Farewell to the team

Our team of around 20 Indian cyclist left us on Wednesday morning after a little sight seeing.

We travelled together in our support bus to visit the Rock Garden and the lake. Unfortunately Mark was still feeling pretty rough so he stayed at the YMCA in bed. Thakfully he’s a lot better now.

I wasn’t sure about visiting a rock garden but the locals thought we would enjoy it. As we started wandering through the different areas I thought it was interesting, but certainly nothing great …. until we walked through another tiny archway to see a magnificent waterfall. We then started to walk from place to place being more and more impressed as we went. The artist who designed the garden must have spent many years getting things to the current stage. There were waterfalls, stone artworks, masses of sculptures and so much more. There were even a number of swings which most of the team members jumped on for a while.

After that it was off to the lake. It’s a massive body of water with the Himalayas as a distant backdrop. Wow. While most of the team headed off across the lake on paddle boats, a few of us stayed behind and had a coffee. It was pretty amazing to hear a recording of an Indian voice singing Jingle Bells as we sat and sipped.

We returned to the Y and said our farewells to the Indian team as they boarded the support bus bound for Delhi. There was now just the 9 Australians and 2 Indians left. We’re looking forward to catching up with the Indian team in a few days time for our farewell dinner in Delhi.
