Rain

The day after arriving in Chandigarh we hopped on our bikes again to ride around the city. As I mentioned previously, we cycled around 35km from place to place. We stopped at a couple of schools and met teachers and students.

As we rode we started getting wet. The light but steady rain just kept on coming. It was refreshing but I could have done without it considering my cold.

That night we had an official function with several special guests. You can always tell how important your special guests are by the number of men with semi-automatics slung over their shoulders. There was about 3 that night. The chief guest was representing the Chief Minister of Punjab. He was a lovely gentleman who spoke well for the cause and was a delight to meet, ever so briefly.

All the riders on the Delhi to Chandigarh team were presented with small trophies from the local churches.

During the programme I had opportunity to talk about the journey to the backdrop of several photos projected onto a large screen. Aren’t digital photos wonderful? So far we have about 5 gigabytes of photos from various digital cameras with a few of the team also using film.

After the programme we headed off for dinner at a local church which supplied most of our meals while in Chandigarh.
