Isn’t it amazing how small the world has become?
It’s mind boggling when I stop and think about all the people around the globe that I’m in touch with on a regular basis. I’m in touch with most through their blogs, leaving comments on each other’s posts or sending email.
As I’ve mentioned a couple of times, I’ve recently installed Skype, so I can now have free telephone conversations with other Skypers around the globe.
Last night I had a brief chat to Matt Harmless. It was great to finally hear each other’s voices after previously only ever seeing each other’s words in text on a computer screen.
We worked out that there’s a 12 hour time difference between us. Matt said he’d be sitting by his computer at 9:00pm his time listening to me on 98.5 Sonshine FM online. That made it 9:00am Perth time which is when I start my morning shift. I hope Matt got a thrill hearing his named mentioned on a radio station on the other side of the planet.
Strange thing is that after our conversation, Matt said that he thinks I have an accent. Sorry Matt, I’m going to have to disagree with you on that one. You’re definitely the one with the accent.

Rodney,
I’ve heard you on the radio, mate.
Sorry, you have an accent! 😉
i don’t have high speed … so can’t listen to your “accent”… :o( … hey did you know that us Canadians don’t have an accent? we speak perfect English … *laughing*
YOU HAVE AN ACCENT, Rodney! Sorry that we here in blogland are the ones to break the news to you. hehehe
I can’t tell you how disappointed I am!
I got home, and my computer (probably because I am still using dial-up at home) couldn’t get the station to play! I can’t believe that I missed my name being mentioned on the other side of the world… with the accent!
Oh Matt …. I’ll have to see if I can find the ‘logger’ file of what I said so that you can hear it. 🙂
I got it! My students loved it!
