I received a Personal Invitation this morning. It was probably the most impersonal Personal Invitation I’ve ever seen.
It was an email, which was obviously distributed to a bunch of people on an email list, telling us about an upcoming event. It was written in fairly plain text with absolutely nothing personal about it.
The content is fine. It’s from an organisation that I’ve had dealing with in the past and I’m happy to receive their information, I just find it a little odd that they’ve tried to represent a bulk emailing as something specially for me. To me there’s something inherently dishonest about it.
I know it’s not all that important but I do wonder if the Personal Invitation heading will alienate more people that it endears. Next time, why not call it a newsletter?

Rodney, was it from Amway? 🙂
Strangely enough, no. 🙂
(If it was from Amway I wouldn’t have said “… I’m happy to receive their information …”)
