I used to enjoy sitting down to watch the annual TV Week Logie Awards (Australia’s annual television awards) but tonight has me a little confused. We’ve just seen a little of all the guests arriving and I’m lucky if I can identify more than a handful of the stars of Australian television.
There are just a bunch of young guys with messy hair, and young women, who’s breasts are defying gravity by somehow staying inside the 5 centimetre strips of cloth that they are calling designer outfits, walking down a white carpet. Who are they all?
I guess I’m now officially too old to know what shows are hip and who is who these days. (Should I even be using a word like hip?)

Do you think some of your friends would enjoy reading Excuse me but …. who are you?? Please use the buttons below to share the post. Thanks.
is this what they call the slow slide over the hill?
I didn’t even watch the Logies. Was intrigued by a movie on ABC called The Second Coming. A guy in the UK disappeared after drinking in the pub one night, then 6 weeks later was found in the moors. He then claimed he was the Son of God and that the earth had to write the third testament in 5 days and then it was judgement day. It was weird, but interesting.
And some people in that movie were saying the same thing to this guy, “WHO are you?”
Hi Rodney, as a 26 year old I have the same problems. I guess Mendelssohn and Mozart take their toll? Kind regards, Adrian.
Hey Kel – Pauline was watching Second Coming so I caught bits and pieces. Seemed very interesting. I was sitting behind my computer …. again.
Adrian – I guess you don’t have to be as old as me to realise that what passes for popular television isn’t always that great. 🙂
Alas I know just how you feel Rodney. I kept asking Kathy (wifey) “who is that”, “who are they”, “what show is heshe in”, but even though Kathy is almost 10 years younger than me, she was in the same boat as I. We abandoned the television early and did odd jobs around the house instead! If you are anything like me then I am sure you would identify much better with “Grumpy old Men” which is on ABC on Tuesday night (last week this week).
Bruce you are absolutley right. I love Grumpy Old Men. During the first episode I kept saying to myself, “Well, doesn’t everybody think like that?”
I have found myself agreeing with their ideas far more than I would like to admit.
Evidently Rove won the Gold Logie. But Sonshine Radio only played back what John Wood had to say when receiving his Silver Logie.
It was only when I watched the TV news tonight that I understood why 🙂
