It’s another spectacular Perth day. I really enjoyed cycling to work this morning.
I’ve recently started taking a slight detour on my way to work. It adds less than a kilometre to my commute but it does mean that I have to tackle a couple of hills.
I decided to change because I know that I needed the extra challenge. The strange thing is that it’s taking me less time to get here. I’m riding further, the degree of difficulty has gone up, yet I’m traveling faster.
I suppose there’s a part in all of us that wants to face a challenge head on. We need to find that part and give it permission to shine.
There are two ways we can tackle life. We can allow ourselves to settle for average or we can make things a little more interesting and let the challenge bring out the best in us.
I don’t know about you, but being average scares the hell out of me.

Must be all that super food you’ve been eating lately. Ride on!
You could, of course, be riding faster because you’ve managed to avoid a set of traffic lights or two. 🙂
🙂
Nice try Chris.
I’m really moving quite a lot faster at the moment. Thankfully it’s not a long commute so I don’t have to keep it up for too long.
I’m looking forward to the radio station moving within the next couple of years. That will at least double my commute.
Spectacular…
the surf at trigg point was only knee high!
I so agree with your philosophy on challenges!!
I try to challenge myself each morning by sleeping in and trying to get EVERYONE ready in less and less time each day. It really keeps us all on our feet and makes it fun to talk about how we forgot to brush our hair or put our shoes on the wrong feet.
I am with you on this one, and happy to add, no one has ever called me “average”
🙂
