I have a very small tool kit in my desk drawer at home. It’s got a small hammer, a tiny tape measure, some little pliers and small screwdrivers in it. It’s all put together in a small plastic case and it’s quite handy when I’m working on jobs that need some extra care or when I’m doing something inside our computer.
James discovered the kit this morning and was fascinated by it all. He asked me if when he becomes a man I will give him that tool kit.
It’s interesting to see what kids think are the benefits of being an adult. Obviously one benefit is that you get really cool tool kits.
Yes James, I will give you that tool kit when you are a man. In the meantime I’ll do my very best to give you some far more important tools. My earnest desire and hope is that I can give you some of the life tools you require to become the man you need to be.

Wow…if my memory serves me right, I used to aspire to having a really cool tool kit when I grew up. Now that I have one, I seldom have the luxury of using it. Maybe that’s one of the incentives of reaching middle age. 😉
I hide my hammer from the family. I’m sure you will do well with your son.
Wow, that is amazing because when I was 6 I asked my father if I could have his tool kit when I grew up. Of course by the time I reached adulthood most of my Dad’s toolkit was filled mainly with Father’s Day presents. I’m sure there’s something in that. 🙂
