If you’re a residential customer of the Australian telecommunications giant Telstra, you’ll be pleased to know that your line rental won’t be rising …. at least for the time being.
The Australian reports in this article that … The nation’s 8 million residential phone users have been spared a line rental increase for the first time in five years after Telstra ruled out imposing any hike this financial year.
“We have no current plans to do anything,” Telstra consumer and marketing chief David Moffatt said yesterday.
Between 2000 and last year, Telstra raised the standard line rental charge from $11.65 to $26.95, although millions of consumers pay the higher $29.95 rate that comes with a number of free local calls.
With rises like that over the past few years we can be thankful that they’ve decided not to slug us again this year.

I still receive my monthly bill, look at it and think “that’s not bad for 3 months . . . ” then I realise that it was only for 1 month!!
