Even though my own mum died many years ago, I’ll be thinking of her tomorrow and the contribution she made to my life. She died around 18 years ago and I especially miss her at all those milestone occasions. I wish she had been around to see me cycle across Australia. I wish mum could have been here to see me achieve my dream of working in radio. There are so many things that I’d love to share with her. Most of all I’d love her to have been around when I met and married Pauline. I would love to have seen her smile as she sat with our kids on her knee.
Tomorrow I’ll get to spend some time with my mother in law. If all those mother in law jokes are for real I must have managed to find a very unusual mother in law. She’s nothing at all like all those stereotypes. She’s an absolute delight.
I’ll also be trying to make the day special for the world’s best mum – Pauline. I have to take Emily out this afternoon to finish some Mother’s Day shopping.
If it’s Mother’s Day in your part of the world tomorrow, make the most of it, especially if your mum’s still around. Let her know just how special she is and make sure she never forgets it.
