Simple joys

Another weekend’s over and a new working week begins.

How was your weekend? Busy? Ours was reasonably relaxed for a change.

One of my favourite parts of the weekend was taking advantage of the long fine break on Saturday afternoon to head off with Emily and James to the local park. It’s quite a big park with cycle paths all around and through it.

Now that James has built up his skills on a bike we decided to cycle down to the park. We covered around four and a half kilometres.

I love cycling. I’ve ridden more than 200 kilometres in a day at an average of over 30 kilometres an hour, but somehow, cycling four and a half kilometres at an average of just 10 kilometres an hour with my soon to be 9 year old and my 6 and a half year old is something extra special.

In our fast paced world it’s wonderful to slow down enough to enjoy the simple joys that life offers.

  • Hi Rod,
Spent the morning with my Ryan and scoyy and one of Scotts mates playing Pitch and Put Golf. Huge scores but a lovely time had by all.
    Yep – keep it simple.
    Regards

  • Rodney, we have a son named James also. And he, too, likes to bike. But he’s all grown up now, happily married with a son of his own. It was nice to visit your blog via Blog Explosion.
