It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to Rottnest, so I was really looking forward to my weekend on the island.
I was quite dissapointed that I didn’t get to do half the stuff that I wanted to do, but considering I would have had to spend a couple of weeks there to achieve what I had in mind I reckon I did OK.
I had time to relax, time to read, time to cycle and best of all spend time with family.
I suppose the greatest thing for me over the weekend was seeing how well both Emily and James were cycling. Emily has loved riding for some time and is not a bad rider at all but James hasn’t had much opportunity to hone his skills in the past. While I only made it to Rottnest for a couple of days, the rest of the family had been there for almost a week before I arrived. In that time James had mastered the art and was zipping all over the place on his Spiderman bicycle.
Cycling along with both Emily and James was a marvellous experience. There is something truly wonderful about seeing your kids master a skill. Of course being an avid cyclist, seeing them master this particular skill was extra special for me.
