We have a winner

We had a wonderful night out on Saturday. We went to the quiz night that I mentioned a few posts ago.

Pauline, Emily and James sat at a table with some friends and Pauline’s parents. I sat behind a microphone and read the questions. Even though I was the MC for the night, I hadn’t seen the questions before we started so there was no way of helping Pauline’s table towards a win even if I wanted to. As it turned out, I didn’t need to anyway. They took first place.

During the night there was a sheet of questions given out to all the kids of primary school age or less. Without any help at all, James answered every question correctly and won the prize. Not bad for a 6 year old.

It was a wonderful evening out and a great result all round, especially for Saltbush Youth Festival which the quiz night was supporting. Unfortunately, last year’s event was as well attended as it needed to be to break even. There was a substantial financial loss, but thanks to the quiz night and a couple of other events, that has now been paid out. Especially good news for one of the organisers who took the debt on personally and he certainly wasn’t in a position to do so.

I think we’re planning to be at another quiz night within the next few weeks but this time I’ll be on the table so I’ll have to stretch my brain and come up with a few answers.
