Brown

Brown isn’t my favourite colour, but it’s OK in its place. I’ve got a couple of items of brown clothing. I love chocolate and that’s brown. However, I do draw the line at brown water.

I was in the kitchen preparing dinner last night and I turned on the tap to see water with a brown tinge pouring out. I filled a glass just to make sure that my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me. It was definitely dirty.

I had filled a pot with sparkling clean water just ten minutes earlier. Turning the taps on this morning we found that everything was back to normal but it was a little worrying last night.

I suppose that an old pipe may have been moved sending a bit of silt through the pipes or something like that. Amazing how spoilt we get. I certainly didn’t want to drink the brown water but I’m sure that in many places around the world, the dirty water in our pipes last night would be 100% better than their daily supply.

  • We have had this before as well. Usually occurs when work is being done on the pipes in the street somewhere nearby. This usually introduces air into the line as well so not only is the water brown but it spits and spurts out of the tap as well.

  • That is really gross, and yes, it does remind me of how spoiled I am. You’re right, it’s better than the water much of the world has to drink on a daily basis, if they’re lucky.
