Radiothon 2005

Members of the internationally renowned Soweto Gospel Choir will appear in Perth city tomorrow morning (August 26th) to support the community radio station where I work, 98.5 Sonshine FM. Their voices will ring out through Forrest Place and live on-air during a live broadcast to launch Radiothon 2005. About 10 members of the choir will perform a few songs for city workers and shoppers.

We will broadcast live from Forrest Place throughout Friday morning as part of our annual 3 day Radiothon. Joining the regular 98.5 Sonshine FM line-up will be Perth personalities including Tod Johnston and Tina Altieri. Other well known locals are expected to join the team for this exciting event.

Radiothon 2005 will then continue from our Morley studios with various personalities dropping in to help out during Friday afternoon and over the weekend.

Political, Media and sporting personalities will join the station’s regular on-air line up to seek the support of listeners for 98.5 Sonshine FM’s on-going work of broadcasting a positive message to thousands of people across Perth and beyond.

Some of those behind the microphone over the three days will be Rick Ardon, Glen Jakovich, Sonia Vinci, Trevor Jenkins, Peter Holland, Stephen Smith MP, Bob Harnett, Julie Bishop MP, Peter Kennedy, Gerry Gannon, Senator Chris Ellison and West Coast Eagles Mark Seaby and Jeremy Humm.

We’ll be streaming audio and video across the three days from our website. I don’t think the video streaming will be hooked up in Forrest Place but it’ll be in place for the remainder of the three days.

Listeners will be invited to donate across the three days by calling 9484 1985 or by visiting the secure website.

You will also have the opportunity to visit our studios during our annual open days. The studios will be open for tours from 10:00am to 4:00pm both Saturday and Sunday, the 27th and 28th of August. If you’re anywhere near Perth I’d love to meet you. Please drop in for a coffee.

98.5 Sonshine FM is located at 9 Boag Road, Morley.
