I had a wonderful surprise yesterday. Do you ever have friends just drop in?
I had a friend drop in at work yesterday to say hello. The most surprising part is that he lives in New South Wales so I wasn’t expecting to see him at all.
Keasty was one of the 40 or so people that joined me in 2003 to cycle across Australia with Bike for Bibles. (You can see a short video of that trip by clicking here.) True to form he turned up on a bike. He didn’t cycle to Perth but he did make sure that he brought a couple of bikes with him.
He and his wife have been driving across Australia with a few detours including a trip up through the centre of the country. We didn’t have too long to catch up but together with fellow announcer, John Donoghue, who was also on that ride in 2003, we popped around the corner to grab some lunch and to reminisce.
Amazing how so many memories can instantly flood back when you’re face to face with someone. It was such a buzz to be able to catch up.
I suppose it teaches me that if I’m ever tempted to drop in on someone, I should throw caution to the wind and just do it. In the mean time I’ll leave the light on in case you ever want to drop in for a cuppa.

It must have been great to catch up with Keastie? He was one of the most fun loving and likeable characters on the trip.
