Are you a fan of the TV programme Myth Busters? It shows on the SBS network here in Australia on Monday nights and it’s essential viewing at our place.
One of the myths they investigated on the episode we saw last night was whether yawning is contagious. They yawned in front of people to see if that would start them off.
It didn’t always get their subject yawning but it certainly had both Pauline and me yawning throughout the segment. I just have to see or hear the word yawn and I’m off.
How about you? Have you started yawning just because I’m writing about it? It doesn’t work for everyone because Emily didn’t yawn at all but I can’t help myself. Maybe you can try your own experiment today. Don’t tell anyone, but whenever you’re with a bunch of people, try a yawn and see if everyone else joins in.
As for me, I’m just wondering if I’ve been able to infect you with the need to yawn through cyberspace.

I love mythbusters.
SBS really does have some amazing shows.
I was very tempted to yaaaawwwnnnn . . . . . .zzzzzzzzzzzzz
You’ll never get this research past the ethics committee. Imagine how many people you’d offend! All that yawning in the middle of their scintillating conversational observations.
Hang on a minute.
Is that what you’ve all been doing? Research? Bah.
We used to amuse ourselves in church with a friend who was a seriously-sensitive yawner – half-way through the sermon we’d write “YAWN” on a piece of paper and hand it to him, and he wouldn’t stop for the rest of the service! 🙂
Yes you did and stop it!!! 😀 I found myself yawning thru that episode of Mythbusters, but then again, I’ll start yawning if the cat does it LOL
One of my favourite shows here on cable.
Yes, I too found myself driven to Yawn during Mythbusters.
There are times though when I yawn without opening my mouth wide and I bet there were a few hidden ones in that test room!
Sounds a little like the muffled fart… How’s the line go from Austin Powers, International man of mystery?… [has just farted in Alotta Fagina’s hot tub] Pardon me for being rude, it was not me it was my food, it just popped up to say hello, but now it’s gone back down below.
I yawned!
