Flag race?

What’s a flag race? I’ve had the concept described to me and I think I get it. Runners have to run backwards and forwards grabbing flags out of buckets.

It seems that James will be representing his school tomorrow in the flag race at the inter-school sports carnival. He’s also the reserve for another event.

I don’t know where he gets his interest in sport but he’s been attending after school training and he’s really into it all. I don’t think I ever did anything particularly active until I taught myself to ride a bike at the age of 16. (Of course I’ve made up for my previous lack of activity by cycling across Australia 5 times.)

James is only 6 and he can not only ride a bike but he’s about to represent his school by competing against kids from other schools. He also loves being outside playing with his basketball.

I always used to wonder what it would be like to get on bus and travel to another school to take on their best but seeing as I was never part of a sporting team I never found out. Well, there was the one time that all us non-sporting types went to another school to play volleyball. Unfortunately, the other school’s volleyball team was just that; a team. We were soundly beaten but we got out of doing school work for the day.

I’m looking forward to seeing how James goes in his race tomorrow. Win, lose or draw he’ll still have a very proud dad to congratulate him tomorrow afternoon.

  • a flag race is happening this weekend…just sorry that the eagles won’t be in the running for the flag next weekend 🙂

Re Lano & Woodley, are you talking about their “Lano & Woodley Sing Songs”? I’m hoping to go, but we’ve got a guest artist @ church on the saturday, so hopefully I’ll still be able to find someone who’ll go with me.

  • Oh yes. Lano & Woodley Sing Songs. Should be great.

Did you see Colin on Spicks and Specks this week?

And yes, it is such a shame that there won’t be a team from South Australia in the Grand Final next weekend.

  • 🙁 Saturday arvo was a sad time for me…but as my dad says: “at least we stopped port from getting any further”!

Spicks and Specs is a MUST for me…It’s a great show, and the fact that Colin & Frank appear is a plus 🙂
