Gilligan dead

Actor Bob Denver has died at the age of 70. He passed away on Friday at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina of complications from treatment he was receiving for cancer.

He was most well known as Gilligan from the long running Gilligan’s Island. Before that, he played the part of Maynard G. Krebs on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.

Bob Denver died with his wife of 28 years by his side, along with his four children.

This article gives a little bit more background on the man who was invited into our loungerooms every night for so long and was then invited back for endless repeats.

  • Wow. And it was only the other day that I was remembering about a comedian I saw who sang the words of the Australian National Anthem – to the tune of Gilligan’s Island.

You should try it! It is very enjoyable – lol 🙂

  • Don’t get me wrong. It is very sad. Especially because he wasn’t that old really.
The mental picture of his wife and family by his side almost made me cry: having been by my own father’s bedside when he died.
