Where's your wheelie bin?

I was wondering this morning about how our council’s garden waste collector must feel during the cooler months.

In our area we have three wheelie bins. Regular rubbish with the green lid, recycling with the yellow lid, and another bin with a brown lid for garden waste. We put the regular bin out every week and the other two rotate so that they’re emptied once a fortnight.

Today is bin day at our house. Today is brown bin day.

As I looked down the street this morning there were only a couple of brown bins put out for collection. The weather hasn’t really been all that wonderful for gardening and of course plants don’t grow as quickly at this time of the year so hardly anyone has any garden waste to be collected. I must admit that I looked inside our brown bin and decided that it wasn’t worth wheeling it out to the kerb for the sake of a couple of weeds and two old mandarins.

How does this make the brown bin colllector feel? Does he feel rejected and lonely. Maybe he thinks, “Oh great, I’ll finish early today”. I’d really like to know what the lack of brown bins does for his self esteem.

Maybe if things don’t improve in the next fortnight I should hack the branch off a nearby tree and shove it in the brown bin just so the collector feels loved and wanted.

  • our landlord is so stingy he doesn’t pay to get the garden waste bin

so we have to put the garden waste out in neatly tied bundles !?!

yet we’re expected to keep the rather large garden neat, pruned, mown and so on . . . go figure
