Catalogue crazy

I think our letterbox will be asking for a holiday soon. It’s getting a bit of a workout as we head closer to December.

I walked out the door this morning to see a bundle of papers sticking out through the front of our letterbox. There were 19 separate pieces of advertising material poking out through the slot.

We’re being offered cheap pizza, real estate advice, discounted clothes, low cost electrical items, great prices on alcohol, deals on the latest mobile phones and a whole lot more. With such wonderful prices, if we bought everything the catalogues and brochures were offering we’d save so much money.

I don’t mind getting the odd catalogue in the letterbox but at this time of year it just goes crazy. Maybe I should just park our recycling bin next to the letterbox and get them to pop it straight in. Might as well cut out the middle man.

  • especially when that middle man is your good self!

Our letter box has gone NUTS lately too. Its only very small, so once 1 lot is in not much else fits. Whenever the Posty comes he keeps just placing our mail on the ground!

Need to invest in a ‘no junk mail’ sign me thinks

  • There is a house near us who has a small rubbish bin next to their letter box with a label on it reading “Please place junk mail here”. I often wonder if they receive any junk mail?

  • We have a postal box, so I know if there is anything in our road side box, it has to be junk. Straight in the bin.

  • The worst part is that here on the Gold Coast, none of them seem to be able to read the words “No junk mail”. Seems strange, as they don’t seem like big or difficult words. Maybe our literacy rate just isn’t what it should be.
