Ouch!

I reckon I’m going to be pretty sore on Thursday morning of next week. I’ve arranged to play a game of squash on Wednesday night.

There was a time that I used to play every week but I haven’t been on a court for years so I’ve got to try to remember the rules. Strange how when you stop doing something on a regular basis you forget a lot of what used to come naturally.

That was a lesson I learnt when I picked up a clarinet some years back. I learnt to play clarinet for a few years in high school but never kept it up afterwards. Years after leaving school I picked up a clarinet and couldn’t even remember how to hold it properly, let alone get any notes out of it.

Of course there are other things that you never forget. I reckon that even if I took a long break from cycling, which I don’t intend doing, I’d still know what I was doing when I got back in the saddle. I suppose it’s just like riding a bike.

  • For the sake of your knees and ankles it would be a god idea if you forgot how to play squash Rodney! Still, the chiropractors need work don’t they?

  • My husband’s entire family are HUGE squash players. They play in big tournaments and all. My father-in-law is 80 and still plays! We actually had an Australian player open a squash center here in Dayton a couple of years ago. Julian Wellings, or something like that?
